Florida Tournament Results and Table Tennis News

The recent USATT sanctioned tournament in Lakeland, Florida was a huge success with 115 participants in the four major events held during the two day tournament. Tournament officials were very pleased with the excellent tournament, which saw players from Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio, Virginia, Puerto Rico, and England in attendance.

The Friday night Super Big Ball Singles Event attracted a near record number of players and continues to grow in popularity. The sport uses a 44mm ball and the nets are increased in height. Players also use paddles with short pips and a layer of sponge in this unique sport. The SBBTTA (Super Big Ball Table Tennis Association) continues to grow in the United States and hopefully will soon be accepted by the USATT as part of their umbrella support for Table Tennis in the United States.

Also on Friday night, a total of 8 teams participated in the Doubles Competition with many exciting and close matches during the evening. There was also a hard fought Sandpaper Singles competition on Friday night. Players are urged to enter all three events on Friday night for a great evening of competition and fun for all.
